“Same-day teeth”, also sold as “teeth in a day”, means a fixed temporary set of teeth is attached to your new implants on the day of surgery. You do not get your final teeth that day: the permanent bridge is fitted months later, once the implants have joined to the bone. In the UK it is usually offered with full-arch treatment such as All-on-4, and clinic prices we found start from ยฃ7,999 to ยฃ12,995 per jaw. This guide explains what you get on the day, what the research says about loading implants straight away, and what to check before you book.
We checked every linked page in October 2026. Clinic pages are marketing as well as information, so use their figures to judge quotes.
What does same-day teeth actually mean?
It means the implants are “loaded” with teeth straight away instead of being left to heal first. A Cochrane review explains the traditional approach: implants are kept load-free for 3 to 8 months to let them bond with the bone. It defines the three timings like this:
| Loading | When teeth are attached |
|---|---|
| Immediate (same-day teeth) | Within 1 week of placing the implants |
| Early | Between 1 week and 2 months |
| Conventional | After 2 months |
For a full jaw, a 2026 systematic review of the All-on-Four concept describes the usual sequence: failing teeth are extracted, four implants are placed, a provisional prosthesis of 10 to 14 teeth made of PMMA (an acrylic) is fitted on the same day or shortly after, and the definitive prosthesis follows after approximately six months of healing.
What you get on the day, and what comes later
- **On the day:** a fixed temporary bridge. UrgentCare Dental describes leaving with a fixed set of temporary teeth screwed onto the new implants, which it says is where the “teeth in a day” phrase comes from.
- **During healing:** Yorkshire Dental Suite says its temporary bridges are made from acrylic, are not as durable as zirconia, and are worn for 3 to 4 months. UrgentCare Dental says the temporary teeth are worn for 3 to 6 months.
- **Later:** the permanent bridge, made once healing is complete.
Does loading implants on the same day make them fail more often?
The best evidence found no convincing difference, but it is weak evidence. The Cochrane review included 26 trials with 1217 participants and 2120 implants. The mean implant failure rate across all 26 trials was 2.5%. From 15 trials comparing immediate with conventional loading, there was no evidence of a difference in prosthesis failure or implant failure in the first year.
The authors rated the quality of the evidence as very low, because of high and unclear risk of bias in the studies. They also noted that a high insertion torque (at least 35 Ncm), meaning the implant is held very firmly in the bone when placed, seems to be one of the prerequisites for successful immediate or early loading. That is why a clinic should only confirm same-day teeth once it has assessed your scan and bone.
The 2026 All-on-Four review adds that immediate loading may improve patient satisfaction and reduce treatment time when adequate primary stability is achieved.
How much do same-day teeth cost in the UK?
Same-day teeth are usually part of a full-arch package, so the price is the full-arch price. These are figures from named clinic pages:
| Clinic | Price published | What it says about the day |
|---|---|---|
| Dental Implants London | All-on-4 full arch from ยฃ12,995 | Lists same-day provisional teeth and a final zirconia bridge. |
| UrgentCare Dental (Leeds) | All-on-4 from ยฃ7,999 per jaw | Says patients leave with fixed temporary teeth the same day. |
| Yorkshire Dental Suite | Single-arch packages from ยฃ10,995 (PMMA) and ยฃ12,995 (zirconia) | Says the procedure takes approximately seven hours, including a temporary acrylic bridge. |
Check whether the temporary bridge is included. UrgentCare Dental warns that most clinics charge separately for the temporary teeth, and that some add ยฃ1,500 to ยฃ2,500 for them. What can you eat with same-day teeth?
Soft food for the first months. Smileworks says you might have to stick to very soft foods in the first few months so you do not disrupt the fusion of the implants and the jawbone. UrgentCare Dental describes the immediate teeth as functional but fragile, requiring a soft diet for months. Your clinic should give you a written diet plan.
For the first weeks after surgery, Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust advises, for restorative dental surgery, avoiding hard foods until the stitches are removed, rinsing twice a day with chlorhexidine mouthwash from the day after surgery, and attending a review between 7 and 14 days to remove the stitches. Your own surgeon’s instructions take priority.
Who is suitable?
Suitability is decided from your CBCT scan, your medical history and what the surgeon finds during surgery. The Cochrane review points to firm initial fixation of the implant as a prerequisite, so bone quality matters. Toftwood Dental lists good general health and not smoking heavily (or being willing to stop) among its All-on-4 criteria, and says gum disease may need managing first. Our guides on bone grafts and implants over 60 cover common questions.
Questions to ask before you book
- Is the temporary bridge included in the price, and is it fixed or removable?
- What happens if the surgeon cannot fit teeth on the day?
- How long will I wear the temporary bridge, and what can I eat?
- When is the final bridge fitted, what material is it, and is it in the price?
- What happens, and what does it cost, if an implant fails during healing or the temporary bridge breaks?
If you are thinking of going abroad, plan for problems during healing before you travel. See our guides for Turkey, Poland and Hungary, and our complications and risks guide. In England you can check a practice’s inspection reports through the Care Quality Commission.
Frequently asked questions
What are same-day teeth implants?
Same-day teeth means a fixed temporary set of teeth is attached to new implants on the day of surgery. The permanent teeth are fitted later. A 2026 systematic review describes a provisional bridge of 10 to 14 teeth fitted on the same day or shortly after, and the definitive bridge after approximately six months of healing.
How much do same-day teeth cost in the UK?
They are usually part of a full-arch package. Prices on the clinic pages we checked include All-on-4 from ยฃ7,999 per jaw at UrgentCare Dental and from ยฃ12,995 at Dental Implants London, which lists same-day provisional teeth. Check that the temporary bridge is included.
Are same-day implants less successful than waiting?
A Cochrane review of 26 trials found no convincing evidence of a clinically important difference in prosthesis or implant failure between immediate, early and conventional loading. The quality of the evidence was very low, and a high insertion torque seems to be a prerequisite for immediate loading.
What can I eat after same-day teeth?
Soft food for the first months. Clinics describe the temporary teeth as functional but fragile, and say you might have to stick to very soft foods in the first few months. Follow your clinic’s written diet plan.
Is everyone suitable for same-day teeth?
No. The implants need to be held firmly in the bone when they are placed, which depends on bone quality and the surgery. Your clinic should confirm suitability from a CBCT scan and explain what happens if teeth cannot be fitted on the day.
