What is Portman Dental Care?
Portman Dental Care was founded in 2008 and joined with Dentex Health in 2023 to form PortmanDentex. The group’s about page says it supports over 370 practices across the UK and Ireland, with more than 2,400 clinicians and 4,500 practice colleagues providing dental care for 1.5 million patients. It also says it is part of the wider Portman Healthcare International Group, which has a presence in five European countries.
The group says it supports each practice’s unique identity. In practice, that means a Portman practice often trades under its own name. The CQC register for Portman Healthcare Limited lists services such as Hereford Dental and Implant Clinic, Cheltenham Dental Spa & Implant Centre, Portman Smile Clinic Ilkley and Arndale Dental & Implant Clinic – Boots Manchester. How much do dental implants cost at Portman practices?
Portman does not publish one national price, but individual practices do. These are the implant fees on three practices’ own fee pages. Each page names Portman Healthcare Limited as the company behind the practice.

All three are “from” prices. The Hereford page explains that fees for complex treatments vary with the complexity of the case and the materials used, so they are listed as “from” to provide a guide. Your treatment plan may come out higher if you need a graft, an extraction or a more complex restoration.

Does Portman offer finance for implants?
The Portman practice sites we checked offer finance through a broker arrangement. The Sheffield practice page says Portman Healthcare Limited acts as a credit broker not a lender and can only introduce you to V12 Retail Finance Limited. Terms depend on the lender and your circumstances, so ask for the APR, the term and the total amount repayable in writing.
Can you get implants on the NHS at a Portman practice?
Usually not. The NHS says implants are usually only available privately and are expensive, and that it is rare for the NHS to provide them, for example for patients who cannot wear dentures after mouth cancer or an accident.
How to check a Portman practice before you book
Because Portman practices keep their own names and teams, the practice and the dentist matter more than the group. Make these checks:
