Bupa Dental Implants Review 2026: Who Runs the Practices and What to Check

Bupa Dental Care is the dental business of Bupa, and in England its practices are registered with the Care Quality Commission under Oasis Dental Care companies. Dental implants there are private treatment: the NHS says implants are usually only available privately. We could not verify a current Bupa implant price list for this review, so this page quotes no Bupa prices. It covers what we could check: who runs the practices, how to check the practice and dentist you are offered, and what to ask before you sign a treatment plan.

Who runs Bupa Dental Care practices?

Bupa Dental Care practices are run by companies that came into Bupa when it bought Oasis Dental Care. Bupa’s own history page says it grew in dental care by acquiring Oasis Dental Care and its portfolio of 380 practices in the UK and Ireland. The same page says Bupa first provided dental services directly after it acquired Barbican Healthcare in 1999.

The CQC register shows this structure. One provider, Oasis Dental Care (Southern) Limited, lists practices such as Bupa Dental Care Amersham, Bupa Dental Care Brighton, Bupa Dental Care Cambridge and Bupa Dental Care Oxford among its registered services. If you look up a Bupa practice on the CQC website, expect to see an Oasis company named as the provider.

Across the whole group, Bupa says it runs over 900 dental centres around the world. That figure covers every country, so it does not tell you how many Bupa practices near you place implants. Ask the practice directly whether implants are done on site.

How much do Bupa dental implants cost?

We do not have a verified Bupa implant price to give you. The only reliable figure is the one in the written treatment plan the practice gives you. The General Dental Council’s standards say dentists must give patients a written treatment plan, or plans, before their treatment starts, and that the plan should include a realistic indication of the cost.

To judge whether a Bupa quote is fair, compare it with clinics near you that publish their implant fees. Our city guides list published prices clinic by clinic, for example in London, Birmingham, Manchester and Bristol. The UK dental implant cost guide links to every city we cover.

When you compare, check that the quotes cover the same things: the implant, the abutment and the crown, plus any scan, extraction or bone graft. If one quote leaves out the crown, add the crown fee before you compare.

Can you get dental implants on the NHS at Bupa?

In most cases, no. The NHS says implants are usually only available privately and are expensive. It adds that, although it is rare, implants are sometimes available on the NHS for patients who cannot wear dentures for certain reasons, such as mouth cancer or an accident.

How to check a Bupa practice before you book

Check the dentist and the practice as well as the brand on the door. These three checks are free and take a few minutes.

CheckWhereWhat it tells you
Is the dentist registered?GDC online registerWhether the dentist is on the GDC register. You can search by name.
Can they call themselves a specialist?GDC specialist listsDentists can only use the title “specialist” if they are on the relevant list.
What did the last inspection find?CQC find a dentistThe CQC does not rate dental practices, but its reports say whether a practice met the standards it checked.

The CQC says it inspects 10% of dentists in England each year, so many practices have no recent report. A practice with no report is not a bad practice, but an old or missing report means you rely more on the other checks.

Implant dentistry is not a GDC specialty. The GDC list of specialty curricula includes Oral Surgery, Periodontics, Prosthodontics and Restorative Dentistry, but not implants. Any registered dentist can place implants, so ask about training and experience instead of looking for an “implant specialist” title.

What to ask at a Bupa implant consultation

  • Who will place the implant, and who will fit the crown? Are they based at this practice?
  • Which implant brand and system will you use? Our implant brand comparison explains why the name matters for future repairs.
  • Does the quoted price include the scan, the abutment, the crown and the follow-up visits?
  • What happens, and what do I pay, if the implant does not integrate?
  • What written guarantee do you give, and what does it require from me (check-ups, hygiene visits)?
  • Can I have the treatment plan in writing to take away before I decide?

Bupa compared with other UK dental groups

Each group describes its size in its own way, and none of these figures tells you how many practices offer implants. Use them only as a rough guide to how easy it may be to find a practice near you.

Frequently asked questions

Does Bupa Dental Care offer dental implants?

The NHS says implants are usually only available privately. We could not check Bupa’s own UK pages for this review, so ask the practice before booking whether it offers implants and whether the surgery and the crown are done there.

How much does a Bupa dental implant cost?

We could not verify a current Bupa implant price, so we do not quote one. Ask for a written treatment plan: GDC standards say it must be given before treatment starts and should include a realistic indication of the cost. Then compare it with clinics near you that publish their fees.

Are Bupa dental implants available on the NHS?

Usually not. The NHS says implants are usually only available privately. In rare cases the NHS provides them for patients who cannot wear dentures, for example after mouth cancer or an accident.

Why does the CQC list Oasis Dental Care for a Bupa practice?

Bupa bought Oasis Dental Care, and in England Bupa Dental Care practices are registered with the CQC under Oasis Dental Care companies, such as Oasis Dental Care (Southern) Limited.

Is a Bupa dentist an implant specialist?

Implant dentistry is not one of the GDC specialties, so no dentist is on a GDC list as an implant specialist. Check the dentist on the GDC register and ask how many implants they place and how long they have been doing it.
